Brihadisvara Temple , "Gangaikonda Cholapuram" is a Chola dynasty temple located in Gangaikondacholapuram in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Brihadisvara Temple is the largest and grandest of all the temples built by the Chola dynasty. It stands tall at a height of almost 75 meters with a large gateway and gopuram. The complex has four main structures: the main temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, another smaller shrine dedicated to his consort goddess Parvati, a third dedicated to his mount Nandi, and a fourth, called a mandapa, located between the main shrine and the smaller shrines. These shrines are also connected to several other shrines and Mandapas by a network of pathways. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.

The most distinct feature of the temple is its Vimana, or the temple tower. The tower rises to an impressive 65 meters and is shaped into four distinct storeys.
